Sharon & Nick - Bannatyne Hotel & Spa

Flowers fit for a florist!

The brief

Month: April
Venue: Bannatyne Spa Hotel, Hastings

Design Brief: As the owner of Colonnade Florist, Sharon wasnt ever going to go for a 'less is more' approach for her wedding flowers. Sharon wanted flowers everywhere (and trust me i mean EVERYWHERE- the mens toilets even looked like a flower shop). The wedding was the week after Easter, and Sharon and Nick really wanted to lean into the season and make the venue feel like we'd bought the outside in.

Colour Scheme: If you know Sharon at all you will know she is probably one of the most colourful people there is (i mean look at her amazing dress!) We wanted to go bright and bold with spring yellows, blues, lime greens and oranges.

Main flowers used:

Poppies,
Muscari,
Delphinium,
Peonies,
Ranunculus,
Lily of the Valley,
Tulips,
Daffodils,
Molucella,
Freesias,

Flowers enjoyed to their fullest

We went big with sharons wedding flowers (obviously), but my god did we make the most out of every single design we created. Nothing was used once, every single piece was moved and re-used at least twice throughout the day, and the incredible team at bannatynes turned everything round seamlessly according to our instructions.

Ways we made the most of our arrangements:

- Aisle meadows were lined up in front of the top table for the wedding breakfast, then lined up again at the back of the buffet table/ cake table.

- The centerpieces were in 2 parts, a large arrangement on top with a wreath around the base. These were taken apart after the meal and seperated onto seperate tables bought in for the evening reception. All the arragements had secret hidden fairylights in them, and so guests were surprised to see the room lit up around the dancefloor.

- labelled vases were placed around the venue for the bridesmaids to put their bouquets into and be enjoyed by all the guests.

- instead of traditional wedding favours (which lets face it are often a bit naff), sharon and nick gave all their guests a spring bulb to take home, and aksed that when it flowers every year they think of the happy couple.

- biggest of all, we put notes on guests place cards to let them know that they were being gifted one of the arrangements at the end of the night and which one they should take. With so many arrangements we made sure that at least every couple had something to take home and absolutely no flowers were left or wasted.
