Hazel & Harry - Chiddingstone Castle

Styling to suit the venue

The brief

Month: July
Venue: Chiddingstone Castle, Kent

Design brief: Whimsical country garden style. Lots of bounce and movement. The couple loved brighter summery colours, but still wanted to keep everything very light and dreamy looking.

Colour Scheme: We wanted to take full advantage of the season and the couples love of bright colours, whilst not making the flowers too heavy or dense. To do this we used cerise pinks, corals, peaches and blues, with plenty of white and cream. We used a combination of bold blooms like peonies and dahlias, with lighter flowers such as ammi, delphinium and scabiosa do make the arrangements dance.

Main flowers used:

Coral Charm Peonies,
Dahlias,
Vuvuzela Roses,
Scabiosa,
Delphinium,
Ammi,
Veronica,
Campanula,
Nigella,
Butterfly Ranunculus

Styling to suit the venue:

Throughout our meetings, it was clear Hazel and Harry were both drawn to more of a rustic country garden style- however the venue they had fallen in love with featured beautiful high ceilings and historic architecture. We found the perfect middle ground, by creating centerpieces in soft whimsical colours, inside stone urn bowls which complimented their reception space perfectly.

Chiddingstone castle has a gorgeous, high mantlepiece which sits jut behind the top table. It seemed to us to be screaming out to be shown off in all its glory with some of summer colours used throughout the wedding. We therefore decided to create 2 large ground arrangements, which would be used to frame the ceremony space- with the idea in mind that these arrangements would be moved over to sit on the mantle for the reception. It looked perfect and was a great use of the couples budget.
